Ben Smith

Ben Smith is a Lawyer at WJM Lawyers, practising in Commercial Law and Litigation & Dispute Resolution. He was admitted to practice in February 2024 after completing a Bachelor of Laws (majoring in Finance) and a Bachelor of Commerce at Deakin University, followed by a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice at the College of Law.

Ben’s approach to legal practice is built on dedication, transparency, and reliability. He values open communication and provides thoughtful, tailored advice designed to achieve strong commercial outcomes. Clients appreciate his practical mindset, steady communication, and ability to break down complex issues clearly.

Before joining WJM, Ben worked at a large regional law firm where he gained extensive experience in commercial law, assisting clients on a wide range of matters. Born and raised in Geelong, Ben brings a strong understanding of the local community and takes pride in building long-term client relationships. Outside of work, Ben enjoys staying active—whether training for marathons, playing local basketball, or surfing the Surf Coast.

Community Involvement

  • Ben supports the not-for-profit sector and has advised a range of local organisations on charity law matters. His work has included structuring and governance advice, policy development, and preparing applications to the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC). Through this, he continues to contribute to causes that strengthen community outcomes and long-term organisational impact.
